The Welcome Center serves the city of Austin as the community's multicultural center, building community by welcoming newcomers, supporting residents in transition and creating access and opportunity.

Dollar Works Program

Dollar Works 2 is a comprehensive personal financial education program developed by educators from the University of Minnesota Extension Center for Family Development. It teaches basic economic concepts to strengthen people’s skills in managing their personal finances and making sound decisions with money.

Classes are taught in a fun, relaxed environment with plenty of opportunity to get your personal questions answered and are offered FREE of charge. To register for this class, please contact our office. Light refreshments are provided.

RentWise

The curriculum takes an active-learning approach and stresses tenant responsibility. Participants who complete a minimum of nine hours of education earn a certificate of completion. The RentWise Workbook/Organizer helps tenants store rental records and provides how-to information on unit maintenance and creating collaborative relationships with landlords and neighbors. All participants will receive the "Being a Good Neighbor" DVD and the Landlord and Tenants: Rights and Responsibilities handbook provided by the Minnesota Attorney General's Office. Classes are offered FREE of charge. Registration is required.

The Welcome Center of Austin announces that it has been certified in accountability and awarded the Charities Review Council “Meets All Standards” Seal. The Certification and Seal indicate that the Welcome Center meets all twenty-seven of the Council’s Accountability Standards. More
